As a child of divorce and a handful of moves, I never latched onto home being a particular location or house. Compassion, trust, protection, warmth — these are what make me feel at home. I have always found this in the people I hold in my heart, who make me feel loved and have helped me to grow into who I am today. I feel as much at home on the couch with my partner and two cats in Ohio as I do when I visit my family and friends scattered across the country. For me, home was, and still is, a feeling more than a place.
